I've had a sudden epiphany, after months of frustration—and it's that it's time to declutter my life. Yes, that's right. It's time to remove from my existence the things that no longer work and/or cause me misery. Something used to be fun and now it's now. Remove it. I used to like doing this hobby and don't anymore. Stop doing it. Yes, that means pulling out of projects. Leaving social media groups and profiles and pages. Whatever it is, the goal is to declutter so that I can reduce the frustration.
I'm so over fighting for attention in this abyss of indie writers that I'm done trying. It's not enough that you toil to write the darn book. You have to toss good money at promotions and marketing with little guarantee that anyone will even look your way. Impressions. Clicks. Conversions. It's all garbage. Bogus. Seriously, where is the payoff? It's an endless cycle of trying to topple algorithms and stay on top of meaningless charts when in a blink you can fall to the bottom. I like to tell good stories in my own unique style. If readers can't appreciate that, then so be it. Who cares if you've never heard of me, if I'm new on your radar. If the story is compelling, then purchase a copy and read it and maybe even leave a review. If you are not compelled by the blurb or sample, then move it along. It's as simple as that.
